Backstage Guidelines
The Artistic Director reserves the right to establish rules as necessary to protect the costumes and dancers and ensure a smooth and safe backstage environment during the production.
All Providence Creek Ballet Theater (PCBT) students have the opportunity to perform in the Summer Concert at the end of the dance season in June. This performance will showcase the movement vocabulary and skills that dancers have learned throughout the year in various classes, including ballet, tap, lyrical, jazz, tumbling, and hip-hop.
Additionally, Trainees, Apprentices, and Company dancers will participate in PCBT’s production of The Nutcracker. Pre-Ballet and Level 1 through Level 6 dancers are also invited to audition for roles in The Nutcracker, provided they attend weekly rehearsals alongside their regular classes. Excerpts from the Summer Concert may be performed for PCA students during the school day.
Academic Excuses
Dancers who miss school for any performance or festival will receive an academic excuse letter. This letter explains the integral role the dancer plays in the PCBT performing arts program and highlights the educational arts opportunities they experience outside the studio.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals will take place either in the studio or PCA's auditorium. During the week leading up to the performance, known as Tech Week, the schedule will include:
A technical rehearsal for lighting and sound
A dress rehearsal (Full run-throughs of the show)
Tech Week follows a different schedule for arrival and dismissal times, which will be distributed at least one month in advance. All dancers are expected to attend daily rehearsals during Tech Week. The performance packet will include detailed information regarding the schedule and other important details related to the shows. Please note that theater rehearsals are closed to all parents; those wishing to see their children perform should purchase tickets for the performances.
Photo Day
Photo Day for both performances will occur on a Sunday, specified prior to the performance, to minimize missed classes and rehearsals. These dates will be posted on our website once scheduled. Both group and individual photos will be taken during this time. Our resident photographers will also capture images during the dress rehearsal, which will be shared with all parents via Shutterfly.
